Home Renovation Tour - Before and After Part 9

Hello there, friends.

Happy Wednesday.

Today, I am continuing us on the home renovation tour of the current house. We’re getting close to being finished. Last week I walked us through guest bedroom 3 and its bathroom. Today I’ll take us up to the third floor for guest bedroom 4 and it’s ensuite bathroom. Next week we’ll wrap up the tour with the master bedroom and bathroom. If you missed the previous home tour(s) for this house then click here.

Let’s get started.

Welcome (back) to our home!

Let’s continue on from where we left off…entering through one of the doors in the hallway leads us upstairs to the 3rd floor. The stairs did not have a runner and were pretty slippery so we added the stair runner to match the one we added to the main staircase. This is Antilocarpa in “stone” by Stark. I utilized this stair hallway to display the paintings I had remaining of my Great Aunt Veila’s.

3rd FLOOR LANDING and LIVING AREA BEFORE:

3rd FLOOR LANDING and LIVING AREA AFTER:

  • We removed the carpet and installed hardwood with staining to closely match the rest of the house.

  • We replaced the window(s).

  • We replaced the pull down shades with new, cordless Roman shades.

  • We added a new, third air conditioner for the 3rd floor because it was NOT cooling well enough up there.

  • We added a giant, fluffy faux fur dog bed to the giant window seat but SOMEONE ruined it when he washed the cover and I have yet to find a replacement (out of site, out of mind).

  • I used a console from two houses ago at the top of the stairs to display photos.

  • The open area was generally used for an office area and we just never got around to doing more up there to complete the space (again - out of site out of mind). We have two extra chairs up there that do not have a purpose because one of them arrived with a broken leg and because it was a custom order the company replaced both chairs versus just one. The other two are used at the top of the 2nd floor stair landing.

  • We painted the doors white. The two you see in these photos are to the attic and to the elevator.

  • We removed the carpet and installed hardwood with staining to closely match the rest of the house.

  • We replaced the pull down shades and the window(s).

  • We painted the walls white to match the existing white throughout the house.

  • We replaced the ceiling fan.

  • We painted the doors white.

  • I added an 9x12’ Alexander Home Leanne Distressed Oriental Printed Rug in Grey/Apricot. I like these printed rugs because they’re low pile and less of a trip hazard.

  • I used the two side tables that came in a set with a mirrored console from the previous house. It worked well enough to use what we had.

  • I ordered the white panel bedframe on clearance from Living Spaces.

  • I used the Toulouse tall dresser and writing desk in gray wash from two houses ago as well as the random Marshall’s chair to sit in.

  • The Jardin Toile duvet cover in gray (I did not actually put a duvet in it) and the velvet quilt are from Ballard Designs.

  • I added these floral pillow covers from Etsy and the ”dusty pink” leopard throw from Amazon.

  • The rest of the decor items are from previous homes.

GUEST BATHROOM 4 BEFORE:

GUEST BATHROOM 4 AFTER:

  • We replaced the floors with porcelain tile: Daltile Diamond Carrara Porcelain

  • We replaced the countertops with a white porcelain to match the other bathrooms and kitchen counters.

  • We painted the vanity Benjamin Moore Decorator’s White.

  • We changed the sconces to GETINLIGHT 8” sconces in gold.

  • We removed the attached wall mirror and added this 24x36” Arched Bathroom Mirror in gold..

  • The faucets and shower items were replaced with champagne bronze items. We added the shower bar and replaced the shower door.

  • We replaced the shower tile with Floor and Décor Artisan Mist Ceramic Tile in chevron pattern, and the floor with Festival Satin White Matte 2in Hexagon Porcelain Mosaic tile.

  • We replaced the drawer pulls with these brushed brass cabinet pulls.

  • I used a small Loloi II Skye Collection accent rug in blush/gray from the previous home.

That’s a wrap for the tour today. Next week we’ll complete the tour with the master bedroom and bathroom. What are your thoughts so far? Comment below!
