What's Up Wednesday: June 2024

Hello friends,

How are you all doing this morning? Happy Independence Day! I hope you will be doing something fun to enjoy the holiday.

I have taken a break from blogging this past month and likely will throughout the summer. This summer season is a bit busier than normal for me and honestly I just don’t love summertime. I think if I had little ones I’d probably have a plethora of topics to share about the summer break, but since I do not have little ones my summer mind is not inspired. 😁 Fall and all of the holidays into spring are my peak months normally.

That being said, I may pop on here to share these monthly posts even after the home renovation tour wraps up. There’s two more posts lined up for that topic.

Moving on…I am linking up to share my monthly recap on the last Wednesday of the month.

If you’re new(er) to my blog site, this is what we recap every month:

What I’m eating this week:

This week will be another week of eating out or ordering delivery. I’ve been going through our pantry and throwing a lot of expired stuff away. I do this periodically, but having not cooked but twice (?) this past year there are an unfortunate amount of expired things to toss. If you’re newer to my site - these past two years weren’t the kindest and we moved / renovated a home so my cooking prowess died somewhere along the way. Perhaps one day it will be resuscitated.

What I'm reminiscing about:

Life and how fast it all goes.

ELEVEN years ago this June my first niece was born. HOW IS SHE ELEVEN?? 😭😭😭😭😭

I didn’t get to meet Olivia until Thanksgiving time when they drove to Houston from Miami. Gosh, how she changed my heart when she was born and even more when I held her for the first time.

What I'm loving:

I bought some new kicks after several of my friends raved about them. I bought two different pairs of Kiziks. To be honest, I was bit hesitant when I first tried them on because they’re a little wide in the toe box (I think because they’re unisex shoes), but they are very comfortable regardless and a true slip in shoe which is convenient in itself. I order my usual shoe size.

What I've been up to:

This month I bounced between exercising, dozens of appointments, lunches/brunches/dinners with family and friends, and traveled to Oregon / Washington to get my mind off of life/grief/stress. I did a terrible job of taking photos this month aside from snapping a pic of my outfit before dashing out the door.

We also celebrated Loretta’s 14th birthday this month with a unicorn themed party. Most of the decor was purchased on Amazon of course, but the unicorn hat was an Etsy purchase - click here to purchase it.

What I'm dreading:

More summer and mosquitos. 😭

What I'm working on:

  • My health and fitness, still. I’m exercising but I need to get my diet back in check.

  • Other life things around the house.

  • Grieving the loss of a dear friend of mine. 💔

What I'm excited about:

I’m excited to venture to Knoxville this weekend with family and to see family. I am truly grateful for all of my family and try not to ever take for granted how blessed I am to have them.

I’m also excited for Christmas in July!

What I'm watching/reading:

Watching:

I haven’t turned on the TV much other than the usual background noise of HGTV or Hallmark.

Reading:

I’m stull pulling from the archives on previous easy reads while I run. I really like books with series because the characters continue on throughout.

You can click this link or scroll to the top of the page and click on “Books” to view all of the self-help books I’ve read if you are considering a topic and want a suggestion.

What I'm listening to:

I’ve toggled between some of Spotify’s “daily mix” suggestions while working around the house and my usual hip-hop running playlists. Some new bands I’ve started enjoying from this are Old Sea Brigade, Novo Amor, and Cigarettes After Sex.

What I'm wearing:

I’ve been adding more and more to my LTK profile throughout the month so you can always follow along with me there to see what outfits or home décor items I’m sharing! There are outfits on there that didn’t make it out of the house yet OR that I didn’t take a photo of when I wore it in real life.

A little bit of real outfits from this last 30-ish days:

Skorts are my go-to in life forever more.

I truly loved the fit of this dress and bought it in the blue/green floral pattern as well.

I sized up in this dress thinking* I’d need to from an old memory with this brand. Turns out I didn’t need to. I ordered this dress in black in my usual size and it is still a hint loose. Either way, both sizes, both colors of this dress I love. Very comfortable and classy.

I feel super comfortable in these mom jeans and I don’t have to shift them around as they’re not tight on my thighs. I think I might could have sized down as they stretch out a little bit, but overall like them a lot!

I can’t link this actual dress as it was a final sale clearance item for $11 last year but I linked other sundresses I actually own or like.

I wore this in Oregon and it just feels so girly. I can’t link the actual dress but found plenty of similar ones.

Same day, same jeans, just changed my top before I went to dinner that evening. The bodysuit (on the right) is from many years ago.

I like this dress so much I keep checking back to see if Abercrombie will release it in black. 😂 I don’t gamble with light colors too much because of my self tanner but took the leap with this light blue and loved it.

Walmart for the win. I tried this dress in all black and in yellow and returned those. The material of the black would show too much lint and the yellow was SUPER SEE THROUGH. This blue one is perfect.

I can’t link these super old jeans or this Ross (?) top but I linked similar styles.

This dress now comes in different color-patterns and I just think it’s super pretty, girly, sassy, and flirty.

These jeans are old too, but this link has the exact bodysuit and similar styles or jeans that I do own.

There are many more outfits and home decor posts that I’ve shared this past month on my LTK page in addition to these above. You do not pay anything extra to shop through my page there and setting up your profile is FREE. I earn a small commission from the various retailers for free marketing for them at no extra cost to you.

You can view most of these details on my LiketoKnow. It page OR email me. =)

What I'm doing this weekend:

This weekend I am headed to Knoxville to see my family. 🤍

What I'm looking forward to next month:

In July I am looking forward to life maybe settling down a little bit?? I’m also excited to go to my bestie’s toddlers’ gymnastics classes! She just texted me earlier while I was writing this and I’ll be able to go to three of them with her and am very excited to see her beautiful twins tumbling around and having fun.

What else is new:

That’s about it for now!
