Home Renovation Tour - Before and After Part 7

Hello friends,

How’s your week so far?

I’m continuing us on the home renovation tour of the current house. If you missed the previous home tour(s) for this house then click here. Last time I walked us through my office & gym (technically guest bedroom 1), the attached guest bathroom, and the media room. Today I’ll take us into guest bedroom 2 and it’s ensuite bathroom.

Let’s get started.

Welcome (back) to our home!

Let’s continue on from where we left off…continuing down the hallway off of the stair’s landing.

GUEST ROOM 2 BEFORE:

This room had white jacquard wallpaper and baby blue ceilings. The inside of the closet AND the bathroom were painted baby blue as well.

GUEST ROOM 2 AFTER:

  • We removed the carpet and installed hardwood with staining to closely match the rest of the house.

  • We replaced the pull down shades and added olive green (faux) velvet curtains with brushed steel French return curtain rods.

  • We removed the wallpaper and painted the walls white of the room and closet to match the existing white throughout the house.

  • We replaced the windows.

  • We replaced the ceiling fan.

  • We painted the doors white.

  • I had originally ordered this Olive Tone Oriental rug for the living room but shifted thoughts on that to go with the Ruggable Verona Darkwood rug so this rug ended up working perfectly with the color tones in guest room 2.

  • We used the long dresser and nightstands that we used to have in our master bedroom at the previous houses for guest room 2. The coordinated tall dresser and writing desk were moved to guest bedroom 4 on the 3rd floor (you will see later on). These are in “gray wash”.

  • I was and still am obsessed with this Villandry cane bed in both this “washed linen” and in “black”. As soon as I laid eyes on it I needed to find a way to integrate it into this home’s decor. I even considered the day bed as an option for the 3rd floor.

  • The bench, chair, and lamps came from the previous house.

  • I used a white duvet we had and added this Thandie Watercolor Spotted Duvet Cover in “natural” over the foot of the bed. I love it and it comes in 5 color options. As I’m typing this I realize the moss green throw blanket isn’t on the foot of the bed in these photos and am wondering WHO moved it WHERE? HA! I’ll have to hunt that down.

  • I ordered these blush pink & ivory velvet pillow covers from Etsy and the lumbar pillow from Spoonflower in “gueth_japanese_garden_14inch_chantilly” (that’s how it’s stated).

GUEST BATHROOM 2 BEFORE:

GUEST BATHROOM 2 AFTER:

  • We replaced the floors with porcelain tile: Venato II Polished Porcelain Tile 12x24” from Floor and Decor.

  • We replaced the countertops with porcelain.

  • We painted the vanity Sherwin Williams Dove Tail.

  • We changed the sconces to Latitude Run 1-Light Iron Wallchiere in satin nickel.

  • We removed the attached wall mirror and added a 51’x31’ Arstides Metal Flat Mirror on the wall in silver. This thing is heavy!

  • The faucets and shower items were replaced with coordinated chrome items.

  • We tore out the tub and the curved, dungeon-like ceiling. The ceiling had to maintain the slant that you see because the 3rd floor stairs is over it but it really opened up the space. We replaced the tub with a longer tup and a NORMAL looking/sized faucet.

  • The shower tile was replaced with: Floor and Décor Viviano Thassos Economy Polished Marble Tile like the other bathrooms have to keep it consistent.

  • We replaced the drawer pulls with these chrome cabinet pulls but used the previous round knobs.

  • We added Spinney Grey Toile Wallpaper and I LOVE IT. It comes in five color options.

  • I used rugs and the “art” I had from the previous home.

That’s a wrap for today, friends. What are your thoughts so far? Are there any changes you would have or wouldn’t have made? I’ve enjoyed your feedback in emails that I’ve received!! You can also comment below!
