Home Renovation Tour - Before and After Part 10

Hello there, friends.

I hope your day and week are both going well!!

I am completing the home renovation tour of the current house today. A couple of weeks ago I walked us through the third floor which includes guest bedroom 4 and its bathroom. Today we will continue back down to the second floor and wrap up the tour with the master bedroom and bathroom(s). If you missed the previous home tour(s) for this house then click here.

Let’s get started.

Welcome (back) to our home!

Returning back to the second floor from the third floor in the last home tour post, we will enter into the master bedroom that is directly adjacent to guest room 3.

MASTER BEDROOM BEFORE:

MASTER BEDROOM AFTER:

  • We changed out the chandelier to a ceiling fan. While not the most aesthetically pleasing versus a pretty chandelier, we’re in Houston and IT IS HOT. I need air movement.

  • We replaced the windows.

  • We replaced the pull down shades (not pictured) with new, cordless Roman shades.

  • We replaced the drapes (not pictured) with black faux velvet curtains with these French return rods.

  • We painted the doors white.

  • We adding wainscoting panel trim and painted the walls Sherwin Williams “Downy”.

  • We added these “Keystick” bedside sconces in aged brass.

  • We used the bed frame and My Texas House “LadyBird” area rug we previously had.

  • We added these “chests” as nightstands. They were pricey, but the top is real marble and they’re a classic and beautiful addition that felt worth it for the room. The 84” console I found for under the TV also has a real marble top so it coordinated well enough. And the bench on clearance from Frontgate that is no longer available but I linked similar ones here.

  • We shifted Loretta’s bedtime corral into the room like before. She’s a sassy sleeper so she doesn’t sleep well with others overnight.

  • I found this lovely chair at Meredith O’Donnell and WISHED I could find the fabric to make something coordinated, but never could despite knowing the manufacturer.

  • The bedding stuff can be found here: https://liketk.it/4Hmij

  • The random decor items were Marshalls / Home Goods finds through the years except the decor boxed on the chests are here: https://amzn.to/4cQU1pY

MASTER BATHROOM(s) BEFORE:

The master bathroom has two parts to it as well as two separate closets attached to each separate bathroom. The shower is the connecting/dividing piece between both “his” and “hers” bathrooms. The closet "before” photo is in the “hers” bathroom that is larger with the tub. The “his” closet is smaller and it was painted a light blue…

MASTER BATHROOM(s) AFTER:

  • We replaced the pull down shades and the window(s).

  • We painted the walls white to match the existing white throughout the house.

  • We painted the cabinets Benjamin Moore Decorator’s White.

  • We painted the doors white.

  • We added custom black velvet drapes and valences to the windows to coordinate with the black velvet in the master bedroom.

  • We gutted all of the tile and replaced the floor tile with Daltile: Diamond Carrara Porcelain Tile 24x48, the shower tile with Floor and Decor: Thassos Economy polished marble, and the shower floor with Daltile: white Arabesque mosaic.

  • We replaced the bathtub with a free standing tub and added Daltile: Lavaliere “First Snow Elegance/Ant Mirror” tile as the tub wall surround.

  • We changed all of the wall sconce lighting with Bellamay 1-light dimmable wall sconces.

  • We ADDED shower doors as there were NONE before…

  • We pulled off the vanity wall mirrors and added individual 40x27” beveled edge gold wall mirrors.

  • We replaced all of the faucets and shower accessories with gold or champagne bronze.

  • We kept the chandelier that was already in there.

  • We replaced the marble counters with coordinating porcelain counters to match the rest of the house, including the coffee bar and the “hers” closet.

  • We took down the ceiling wallpaper in the “hers” closet.

  • We replaced the closets’ carpeted floor with the large porcelain tile above: Daltile: Diamond Carrara Porcelain Tile 24x48.

  • We added My Texas House “Lady Bird - Natural” area and accent rugs and runners to coordinate with the master bedroom.

  • The decor items mixed in are from the previous home(s) and likely from Marshall’s, Ross, Home Goods, At Home, etc.

  • The tall leaning mirror is Howard Elliott that I purchased for my office and closet at the previous home that we also now have in the vestibule downstairs.

  • The vanity stool is from Ballard Designs.

  • The “his” size of the bathroom coordinates with this and “his” closet was painted white (from the light blue). We added coordinating My Texas House rugs as well.

Well friends, that officially wraps up the newly renovated home tour of the current house. I’d love to know your feedback on the before and after(s). Make sure to comment below!

I will be popping in here and there to potentially share a post throughout the summer, but for now am going to give myself a much needed “break” from anything and everything as I have plenty of life to-do’s. There’s a lot of life happening and I just need to give myself some grace to not have a “blog schedule” that I make myself live up to for a bit. Thank you for hanging on and along with me on this blogging journey for the past EIGHT years. I will be back soon enough with some updates. 🤍
