Home Renovation Tour - Before and After Part 4

Hello friends,

Happy Wednesday. How is your week thus far?

I’m continuing us on the home renovation tour of the current house. If you missed the previous home tour(s) for this house then click here. Last time I walked us through the formal dining room, butler’s pantry, and kitchen. Today I plan to show you around the living room (den), vestibule, and the mudroom.

I think* I will continue to share the before and after posts every other week to mix them in with other post topics, but you never know what wants to come out of this noggin’ so it’s possible some will be back to back weeks. Just hang in there with me and we’ll eventually make it through the entire house.

You can pin this to Pinterest to save it for later or to share.

Let’s get started.

Welcome (back) to our home!

Let’s continue on from where we left off…

When you enter the foyer you pass by the formal sitting room and formal dining room on the left, and powder bathroom, staircase, and wine room on the right. Then you will approach the vestibule.

  • We had Segreto Finishes remove the white plaster on the walls and re-do it with a light gray plaster. The white version some other company did looked like greasy fingers on the walls.

  • Ruggable Verena Dark Wood Rug round

  • The counter was replaced with porcelain in the butler’s pantry that extends into this vestibule.

  • We painted the cabinets Benjamin Moore Decorator’s White. Its hard to tell that the mudroom cabinets were a soft (yellowy) ivory beforehand.

  • We painted the doors white (to the garage and the elevator (not shown).

The faux floral centerpiece I found years ago at Home Goods.

  • We painted the benches Benjamin Moore Decorator’s White

  • We replaced the window(s) and added custom valences.

  • We replaced the marble counter tops and the tile backsplash with porcelain counters that go up to the ceiling in place of backsplash.

  • We replaced all of the brown doors with new, single paned doors.

  • We removed the wall separating the kitchen from the living room and extended the island there.

  • We cut out the arched doorways to make them straight across.

  • We hired Segreto Finishes to refinish the fireplace. I liked the shape of it, but the “rustic” look had notches all in it and looked terrible to me. They refinished it with the same material and color that they constructed the new fireplace in the front formal sitting room as well as the formal dining table.

  • Ruggable Verena Dark Wood Rug 10x14 area rugs.

  • Angelina Parsons counter stools with backs and Angelina backless counter stools (in the kitchen).

  • Magnolia cane backed chairs in gray oak.

  • Joss & Main Evelynn coffee table and side table.

  • Arhaus Remington sofa and swivel chairs in Nomad Snow (we brought these along from two houses ago).

  • Ballard Designs Aviary accent table (this wasn’t purchased for this room, but it has landed there because it’s originally intended room changed).

  • The LTK link has a lot of the pillow covers and the fireplace screen, etc. linked to it.

That wraps up today’s tour. I hope you enjoyed the fourth installment of our renovated home tour! I’ll share the second floor landing, the utility room, and perhaps my office and connecting bathroom when we continue the tour. 😊

What do you think of the changes we’ve made to the vestibule and the den? I’m obsessed with the chandelier in the vestibule and think about it every day when I pass through there. Comment below!
