Stylish and Affordable Swimwear

Dare I say that swim suit season has already arrived?  I don't know about you, but I feel like I just took down my Christmas tree.  We never even had a true winter here in Houston and we rarely have much of a spring.  But, it is April.  Spring break has passed.  We're planning things like Memorial Day weekend, beach vacations, summer break, and Independence Day celebrations and trips.  I personally fantasize about the beach all year long anyway and thus find myself eye-balling swimsuits 365 days a year!

I'm not going to lie.  When I first started this swimwear post I first looked at my go-to, inexpensive brands.  Then I searched for other brands I tend to like but do not buy as frequently because of the price point, although years ago I went a little bananas on the Vix Swimwear swimsuits...especially the bottoms.  Anyway, as my perusing continued I realized there are tons of suits over $100, $200, $300, $400 upwards of even $800!!!!  WHAT?  Seriously.  Perhaps I have been living under a rock, but do any of you spend those amounts on a swimsuit?  If so, do they do anything magical and not snag like the less expensive ones I purchase?  I've got to know because sometimes things are worth investing in for better quality.  I totally get that.

Wouldn't you know the one that really catches my eye is $800 and completely impractical to do anything but stand around in?  But, I do like it.  Maybe I can glue some shiny things onto a $60 look-a-like black swimsuit.  ;)

Update* - since I wrote this post last week, I actually did make plans to travel this upcoming weekend annnddd therefore rushed out to look at swim suits.  So, before getting into details on the trends below, these are the ones I picked up which are included in the main link at the bottom of this post as well as ordered a one piece that will hopefully arrive in time...I guess we'll see which one(s) I keep!

Moving on...here's a round up of the styles that catch my eye the most and for a great value! Each section below is only a sample of that you'll find in the main link of swimsuits at the end of this post.  You can click on the images directly to be taken to their website.  Plus, please note that the images may show a lot of black swimsuits, however they are available in other colors.  It's just the default image provided to me.

Strappy Swimsuits

Personally, I love everything about these...just be cautious with those tan lines!

High Neck Swimsuits

I keep eyeballing these because I think they add great detail to a swim top while also providing a little more modesty that you may want for varying reasons.

Classy and Sexy One Piece Swimsuits

Need I say more?  I'm a total fan of one pieces.  I honestly don't know why I don't own one as I look at them all.the.time.  They can be picture perfect!

4/4 update* I ordered a one piece...it is to be determined on if it will fit when it arrives in the mail or if I will return it.

Color Blocked Swimsuits

I think I'm drawn to these because they add color without adding patterns.  It keeps the swim suit detail fresh with clean lines.

Off the Shoulder Swimsuits

First of all, I love the off the shoulder trend.  Add in a ruffle and it's even better.  I think it's flirty, breezy, and fun.  That being said, I will be honest in that I'd only purchase a top like this if I planned on doing nothing but sitting around looking fabulous on the beach.  I can't imagine it being very safe for active swimming, if you know what I mean. ;)

Scalloped Swimsuits

I love the detail on the edges of these.  It's feminine and dainty to me.  I do caution again about the tan lines though!

I think that sums it up for me on my 2017 suggested swim suits. While I do get caught looking at the current trends, I tend to value a style that can be worn over and over again through the years as well as pieces that you can easily mix and match.  Do not be afraid to mix up your top and bottom styles and colors!  This allows you to spice up your swimsuit collection instead of always wearing the same old colors.
