Another week has passed and goodness gracious…a lot has happened. If you haven’t watched Tiger King yet, you’re missing out (and you don’t understand the reference above). ;)

First and foremost, I hope you all are still doing good, HEALTHY, and maintaining sanity during this intense time. Every day feels sort of surreal with the news plus we’ve received another stay at home mandate until the end of the month. My three weeks at home already felt like a year so I assume most of you share the same sentiment that another month will feel like a lifetime. But, it is way worth it to protect ourselves and each other while so many are braving their lives working tirelessly for us all to be able to stay safely at home. Let us rejoice and give thanks to every person working so hard for us. We need to count our blessings.

I sit here on a Thursday morning painting my nails for the first time in years like I used to do before work. I’d paint and then let them dry while I typed. It was the only way I could get them to dry without smudging them. I soaked off my acrylic nails and filed them down last night while playing Scrabble with my mom who is staying with us so that she doesn’t expose my grandmother to anything.

I also put on my beloved self tanner for the first time in a month and feel like a new woman.

I think I need to get dressed in something other than work out clothes and put on makeup once a week at least to feel better right now. My lashes are WONKY as ever, growing out, falling out, and looking pitiful. My roots are way passed due. But, what can we do right now? Not a thing. Yet, I am ever so grateful every day that I am healthy (thus far) and don’t have to worry about getting dressed up to do my daily tasks and chores anyway.

Doing said chores around the house this past week has made me hone in on things I have around the house that make my life easier and I thought I’d share them with you today!

I am linking up again to share these things with you. ;)

Favorite #1

My laundry drying rack.

I wish I had bought one sooner and I don’t know why I didn’t. For years I have been drying over half of my clothes by laying them across my bed, over chairs, and on bar stools. I don’t know why it didn’t cross my mind until late last year. But, this thing is awesome.

I air dry a majority of my clothes because they’re either work out clothes or clothes that I don’t want to shrink or ruin (like sweaters). I dry my jeans, towels, and hubby’s clothes in the dryer like a normal person though.

I LOVE this thing! It folds thin for storage next to the washing machine and can hold a ton of laundry. When I’m not using it it’s out of site, out of mind.

Favorite #2

Mowing the grass.

This may sound odd, because WHY would this be a favorite?

I grew up taking turns mowing the grass and always enjoyed it…so long as there weren’t mosquitoes. Well, last year the hubs purchase this lawn mower for us to mow the back yard during the week in between the Friday lawn guys coming because Lorenzo was so little he couldn’t really hop through the grass during spring/summer’s rapid growth. Typically the hubs got out there and did it.

Well, here we are this year with three small dogs and more time on our hands than normal. So, I’ve elected to mow the front and back yards every Tuesday because it’s growing so fast already. I am LOVING it! It gets me a little exercise, a little vitamin D, and a little time to zone out of my head (or into my head).

What I love about this lawn mower:

  • It’s SO quiet the dogs are not afraid of it! They walk along side of me or walk up to me while I’m mowing. It doesn’t frighten them at all.

  • It’s so light to push and I don’t even use the self propelled option.

  • It runs on a rechargeable battery so no gasoline to hassle with or smell to deal with. (Hello old memories of summer sweat, grass and gasoline smells.)

  • It catches the grass clippings in a bag so you don’t shoot the cut grass all over the yard.

It’s worth every pretty penny! Ladies, if you’re reading this I would highly suggest this as a gift (toy) for the hubby’s. The hubs got ours from Lowes, I think.

This thing is clutch for me. I used to use one at work for a candle because we couldn’t have an open flame in the building. It melted the candle so the scent would waft through the air.

At home, I use it for my coffee cup. I’m a slow coffee drinker and my desk is upstairs so it’s not convenient to disrupt the sleeping pups and go downstairs to reheat it. I use this thing all the time to keep my coffee warm! I love it so much! It turns off automatically after 8 hours so you don’t have to worry about a thing if you forget to turn if off!!!

My sound machine.

This may sound silly, but I wish I had bought one sooner. I’ve always slept with a fan on and love the sound and the breeze. Well, fast forward to marriage and there is NO fan in our bedroom. =/ I have been miserable on many nights lying awake from insomnia listening to the stillness or someone snoring…

Well, I decided to purchase a sound machine and it has changed my nights completely. I am sleeping so deep and heavy now. I think it not only drowns out the silence and stillness in the room but also numbs my thoughts. I am elated with this thing!

It’s simple, compact (4 inches deep x 4.375 inches wide x 2.63 inches tall), and perfect. It has six sound options (I keep it on rain), you can adjust the volume of course, and you can set it to only play for a set amount of time if you don’t want to just have it on all night. I keep it on all night that way even if I wake up because of the hubs or dogs moving I just fall right back to sleep. It can also run on batteries if needed.

Favorite #5

Soft rugs.

While I was vacuuming the rugs in the house this week I was standing in the restroom between two different bathroom rugs. It is a pain to vacuum bathroom rugs, am I right? Holy cow. The vacuum wants to eat those types of rugs! I have to lift the vacuum in the air and hover it ever so slightly over the rugs to vacuum up the dirt but not suck the rug up with it! UGH.

ANYWAY, as I was standing in between two rugs and teeter tottering back and forth in the midst of the vacuum debacle it occurred to me that some of our newer rugs are significantly softer and more plush than the older rugs. They’re all white and nice, typical bathroom rugs. But, we had to replace a few after the hubs washed and dried them on some kind of heavy duty cycle and they deconstructed.

I priced shopped a bit on a few sites and decided to order these from Amazon in white because they would be delivered faster than the other store I was considered. They were a great choice. SO SOFT. It feels like it should be a blanket and not a rug.

That sums it up for me this week! Since I started writing this post I have had to take about ten breaks because of the dogs including Luigi getting sick and vomiting (thankfully outside) so I shifted from my desk upstairs to the bed so he could cuddle up and sleep it off next to me. #dogmomlife

How was your week? What’s helping you pass the time at home (even if working from home)? Easter is around the corner! Are you planning any Easter activities for your kids at home? I know our church will be streaming services for Good Friday and on Easter Sunday.

Well dear friends, I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend AT HOME.

XOXO
