Home Renovation Tour - Before and After Part 1
Hello friends,
How are you all doing? We’ve made it to April and I just can’t believe January was only 19 months ago. What a year it has been already!
We’re quickly approaching the year mark of when we moved into this home at the end of May 2023 in the middle of continued renovations. It was a mess. It was dusty. It was loud.
Throughout the past year I’ve been slowly finalizing decorations and we’re still waiting on certain things to be completed like the wine room and some custom valences. It has been a very long process mixed in with holidays that I “had” to decorate for and plenty of life events that slowed things down.
Starting last fall, I shared a home tour with you of our previous home and took you room by room. If you missed that tour then click here. You will see bits and pieces of the same furniture as well as bits and pieces of new furniture in this new home. I plan to take you room by room (or by groupings) again only this time I’ll be showing you the before and after photos of the renovated changes so stick with me for a while and we’ll get through the entire house eventually. 🤍
You can pin this to Pinterest to save for later or to share.
Let’s get started.
Welcome!
We purchased this house in January 2023 and started renovating it immediately. It was a lovely house as it was, but there were changes we wanted to make to make it updated to feel like home.
EXTERIOR BEFORE:
EXTERIOR AFTER:
We painted the external house Alabaster White and the trim Black Beauty (both Benjamin Moore). We had the brick limewashed with some of the Alabaster White paint mixed in.
We replaced all of the windows and ordered a new, custom front door in black.
We did a lot of landscaping and replaced the grass (three times 🥴).
We painted the iron gates Black Beauty.
We painted the wooden fence in the backyard (I don’t know the name of what we chose).
We removed the landscaping in the backyard and added/replaced the astroturf.
We changed all of the back doors with new doors with no window panes.

Indoor/Outdoor Tabletop Firepit, Veradek large planters, CosmoLiving set of 2 planters, faux purple lavender, faux fuchsia lavender, black spotted pillows, similar outdoor poufs, outdoor rugs, similar faux snowball hydrangea tree.
Welcome inside!
ENTRYWAY BEFORE:
ENTRYWAY AFTER:
We removed some of the arched doorways, not all of them.
We replaced the two chandeliers you see, but we’ll get into those later.
We added a custom stair runner.
We changed the old style half moon UFO looking sconces going up the stairs to these crystal and gold half moon sconces.
We changed the wine room door (the brown one on the right), more on that later.
POWDER BATHROOM BEFORE:
POWDER BATHROOM AFTER:
We replaced the floors with black porcelain tile: Colorgloss Black Porcelain 11” x 23”
We added wainscotting paneling trim and painted the bottom half Benjamin Moore Midnight Dream.
We added Eijffinger Auguste Charcoal Floral wallpaper (LOVE!) to the top half. I hired Julie Young, The Wallpaper Lady to install all of the wallpaper throughout the house and HIGHLY recommend her.
We replaced the vanity with a 42” cultured marble top vanity in brushed gold. It comes in various sizes and also in matte black. We added a brushed gold faucet and ended up changing it to one with a deeper faucet spout.
We replaced the mirror with this ornate gold mirror from Amazon and replaced the sconces with antique gold sconces.
We replaced the flush mount light with this gorgeous Linal Crystal Flush Mount light in Olde Brass. I had to make sure whatever I added wouldn’t hit the door when it was opened or shut.
I hope you enjoyed the first bit of our renovated home tour! I’ll share the formal sitting room and wine room next time as we continue the tour. Some areas may be shared out of order of the expected flow. It all depends on which rooms are tidy enough for photos. 😊
