Home Décor for the Master Bedroom
Hello there friends, Happy Wednesday!
I’m continuing us on the tour of our previous home. Last time I showed you our laundry room that had done a fun makeover of so it was a bit of the “tour” with a bit of DIY. Today I’ll move us through the master bedroom and bathroom. I’ve decided to focus on this one room so this post won’t be too long.
In a later post, I’ll share bits and pieces of the guest bedrooms, media room, and offices/gym.
Once our new home is fully renovated and picture ready, I’ll share details about it as well. So for now let’s take a look at the past for a home tour!
Welcome back to our (previous) home! If you missed the previous blog posts of the home tour then click here. =)
MASTER BEDROOM
When we purchased our house, the master bedroom had white walls and no window treatments. I wanted to go a little bold in this room to give it some character. After testing 143 dark paint colors and viewing them in every lighting possible, husband ended up bringing home a sample of Valspar Volcanic Ash (4009-1). It was precisely what I wanted. The funny thing to me about this color was that it looked like a dark grey blue in most of our bedroom lighting instead of a a dark grey. But goodness, I loved it either way.
We used the furniture we had purchased for our home before this and I was please with it all.

We added custom cordless roman shades in a neutral, but darker color so the curtains would stand out a bit. I ordered faux linen curtain panels in “barley”.
I mixed in textures with the pillows using the 24” blue pillows we already had and layered them with these Honeycomb Quilted King Shames in “midnight”, Kenmare Ikat lumbar pillow cover in blue, over the Grand Organic Percale Duvet Cover and coordinating King Shams in white (there’s 8 colors to choose from and the color is only on the piping).
We changed out the fan also. The below photo is before I had determined how I wanted to decorate the dresser…that took some time.
I was/am obsessed with these vintage looking, ornate mirrors but wasn’t willing to spend a lot of money on one and was thrilled when I found this Gold Bordeaux Ornate Scroll Mirror at Kirkland’s and used a coupon code. It’s a hint more bronze than gold which I had read in reviews but that never bothered me.
I found the Frieda Tall Table Lamp online as well and the other items at Marshall’s / Home Goods.
You can shop these items by clicking here.
We used this abstract art piece called Fresco 2 that we acquired for our previous home as well and it give a nice lift of lighter color to the wall.
COFFEE BAR
This is actually what you walk into when entering the master bedroom and this area connects the bedroom with the bathroom. I found an assortment of decorations from Marshall’s and HomeGoods that mixed and matched with items we had from the previous house. You can find items like these at At Home, TJ Maxx, Target, Walmart, and Ross as well.
We never did put a coffee maker in here because our mornings consist of taking the pups out first and so we made coffee in the kitchen. Inside these cabinets I kept these stored because it is important to be able to get out in an emergency when you have a two+ story home.
MASTER BATHROOM
Our master bathroom was large and beautiful in a simplistic way. We had custom shutters added to the windows and kept the chandelier the builder added. I wanted to keep this space bright and white so I didn’t add a lot of décor
I’ve spared you the glimpse of our former closet, but it was beautiful! It was large with a large “luggage” island in matching quartz countertops.
I’ll wrap this up here for now! I hope you enjoyed this little portion of our previous home tour. Next time as we continue the tour, I’ll show you our guest rooms.
