Spring has sprung and we it’s officially APRIL! Hooray for April showers, flowers blooming, and more consistent temperatures.
I keep hearing the song “Summer Lovin’” in my head when thinking about this post’s topic: decorating the front porch without flowers (for spring). I haven’t ever seen Grease to be honest, but everyone knows that song. Thinking of decorating without flowers makes me think of summer automatically because that is how I typically decorate my porch from June-September anyway. This year I am decorating for spring or Easter inside the house because I packed many things up when we got our home ready/staged to sell. And for that very reason I am not hanging all of my usual wreaths that I rotate throughout the seasons either.
So, why else would one decorate the front porch for spring without flowers? Perhaps you live where it’s too cold for things to stay alive or too hot for flowers to live. Perhaps you have allergies and simply like to avoid flowers. Perhaps you’re not into flowers at all. Perhaps you travel a lot and do not have time to care for them. Perhaps you do not have a green thumb (like yours truly) and every attempt to keep plants/flowers alive you subsequently kill them quicker. There are many reasons why someone may not want flowers.
Here are my suggestions for decorating your front porch for spring without flowers:
The front of your home is the first impression people see. I realize that most of us nowadays aren’t keen on the idea of people just stopping by uninvited but remember that in previous decades that is how society worked. Having an inviting front porch was something you wanted so a neighbor could pop over and have a glass of tea and catch up! Sounds nice, doesn’t it?
I tend to keep things neutral and the great thing about that is that you can add in pops of your favorite color(s) throughout the year as you want to or for the holidays. Switching out things like pillows with any holiday themed signs or wreaths you may have is easy peasy.
The common trend now is to have lighter colored furniture and the perk of that is that it definitely brightens up your space including outdoors. Plus, if you have a smaller front porch, lighter colors help it feel and look bigger.

What kind of decor do you currently have on your front porch? If you could have anything you wanted out there, what would it be? What type of porch would you have? Large, small, wrapped around the house?
I hope you all have a great day!
