Galentine’s Day is celebrated on February 13th and is specifically for celebrating the love you have for your friends. Ladies celebrating ladies. No boys allowed. Sorry, not sorry, boys!

Apparently Galentine’s Day was created based off of a Parks and Recreation show and it took off. Frankly, I’m here for it. I love any excuse to celebrate the wonderful women in my life!

So, what does Galentine’s Day entail?

Everything.

I kid, I kid.

It’s a very girly, frilly, love filled day with all the hearts, flowers, candy, and WINE imaginable.

Sounds pretty great to me!

Here are some ways to celebrate your gals this year! February 13th falls on a Saturday so the sky’s the limit.

1) Brunch! If the weather is nice then book a spot for drinks and eats on a patio. Enjoy the sunshine and bask in being wise by sitting outside (because - Covid of course). This is one of my personal fave things to do with friends - feel pretty, sit outside, and have some wine. =)

2) Host a brunch or dinner at home if you’re comfortable with your circle’s exposure risk. You can keep it simple with a charcuterie board and cocktails or make it things like heart shaped cookies, pancakes, or pizza.

3) Host a rom-com movie night. You can make this easy Valentine’s popcorn and order take out.

4) Set up a virtual get together: ZOOM, FaceTime group call, or a Facebook messenger call. It’s not always ideal but it is nicer to see each other’s faces than to not. All of the ladies can dress in red (or something Valentine’s related).

5) Set up a secret Valentine exchange! This would be similar to a Secret Santa, but there will be no wish lists. You can set a budget limit and you’re then responsible to send the friend you draw a Valentine’s surprise. It can be anything from the “traditional” candy and flowers to a spa treat, pajamas, wine with a DVD. Anything that will make them feel loved and special on that day.

6) Set up a get together with your ladies - but make the evening’s task to make handmade Valentine’s cards for the elderly, for our men and women in service, or to drop off at a local school (that might take some research and planning to make sure the school will accept them).

7) Go on a sip and stroll. If you like to be active or prefer outdoor gatherings then pour your favorite adult beverage into an insulated tumbler and meet the ladies for a walk. You can go midday or even later to watch the sunset somewhere. Not into alcohol? Take coffee or hot tea with you instead. ;)

8) Live near the shore? Meet the ladies for a picnic on the beach! Most parts of the country are too chilly to get into the water, but the sun and wind will breathe life into you while you catch up with your gals. One can bring the snacks, one can bring the treats, one can bring the drinks, and one can bring the essentials (blanket, plates, utensils)

Have you celebrated Galentine’s Day before? What have you done for it if you have?

XOXO
