Accessorizing for the Holidays

Hi Friends,
Have you decided upon your holiday outfit(s) yet? I keep thinking I will figure mine out officially and then have been distracted. I have ordered many fun things I’ve shared with you on here that are perfect for the holidays. But, you know in the end I always feel like what helps me feel festive or fancy is my jewelry.
The accessories you wear will either make your outfit fizzle or sizzle. Why those words just came out of my head, I do not know. But, it’s sort of true. Accessories can transform any outfit to make it dressier and fun. Sometimes a lack of accessories really dulls down an outfit. What do you think about that?
My favorite ways to accessorize for the holidays is glitzy, glittery, or gold (and silver) jewelry. In my opinion this is a timeless way to accessorize for most anything formal anyway, so why not glam it out for the holidays?

Think about it. You can wear a simple sweater and add bold jewelry and just ramp up your holiday attire to make it feel more special. Reds, greens, whites, blacks, neutrals, burgundies, jewel tones, etc. paired with bold jewelry instantly makes the outfit pop. Then, you can pair it with jeans or leggings of your choice and shoes of your choice and it doesn’t really matter how “casual” you may choose.

You can wear a top of any kind almost and a puffer vest with jeans, a skirt, leggings, or slacks but add in a statement necklace or earrings and you’ve instantly elevated your look. It wouldn’t even matter which shoes you’ve chosen because the jewelry takes the center stage.

Pair a simple, solid dress and add in statement jewelry and instantly you’re dress is fancier. You don’t have to spend a lot on the dress nor the jewelry and you’ll stand out anyway.

Don’t get me wrong, I acknowledge that shoes can also make an outfit pop if the outfit is more simple and then the shoes that the center stage. As much as I like certain shoes, I am just not a shoe person because I have an uncanny ability to ruin shoes the first time I wear them. ;) That’s no joke…the very first time and the nicest of shoes will be scuffed and ruined. But, you have to pick your point of focus for interest. I vote keep the eyes upwards and not at my feet anyway (as I trip on myself walking away). =)
These are my go-to jewelry places for inexpensive stuff, but I do like to add in Kendra Scott & Kate Spade here and there. I also have and like more expensive “fine” jewelry but that’s just not something I care to share about here on the blog because at my core I am a bargain shopper. ;) PS: I also didn’t mention much about bracelets nor rings because we’re discussing accessorizing holiday attire and quite frankly for my friends in cooler climates I know you’re wearing long sleeves and gloves whereas I’m in sleeveless shirts a lot of the season so it’s just not fair. =}
What are your favorite ways to feel dressed up for the holidays? Do you like sequined outfits or simple outfits with accessories? Or perhaps both?!? I recently ordered a bunch of sequined items from Express but unfortunately they didn’t fit well so they all were returned. I was bummed! I don’t think we’re doing much of anything for the holidays this year because 2020…nonetheless I keep thinking maybe I will dress up a bit even to stay home. Something has to brighten the spirits other than the vino, right?
