What's Up Wednesday: June 2018
Do you ever wonder about life and what it's all about? What's your calling? What's your legacy? What impact have you had on others that will carry forward once you're gone? Where does the time go? It's like a crazy dream sometimes. Now this song is in my head. ;)
Sorry to do that to you. Ha!
Anyway, June is gone. We're past the midpoint in the year and praise the good Lord we are COUNTING DOWN TO FALL AND CHRISTMAS! Who's with me?!?!? Ok, I'll digress on the Christmas topic but anyone who knows me knows that I am officially excited from here on out. My favorite months and seasons and holidays are alllllllllll coming this way. Woot woot!
Back to the point of this, I am linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share my monthly recap. I'll try to keep this brief.
What we're eating this week:
This week is a mess! I basically have one or two evenings to cook for the hubs and I'm thinking something easy like pesto shrimp with spiralized zucchini noodles with a side of roasted bell peppers. If I get another chance to cook I may take out some leftovers from the freezer or de-thaw chicken for an easy meal. We have some full days ahead and I leave in the early AM on Thursday so he'll be on his own for a while. =/
What I'm reminiscing about:
This time last year when we went to Knoxville for Mammaw's birthday and the hubs (then newly titled boyfriend) met my dad for the first time. He was nervous! ;)
Previous July's because we just got back from my favorite place in Colorado and I still use this pic as my blog profile. ;)
What I'm loving:
My Coodia Legs Out pet carrier! It is so fun to strap Lorenzo in and take the bunny places with me. He just chills in it, doesn't make a peep, and looks around at everything. Little bunny baby. Plus, it's fun to see everyone's reactions. He steals the show! Truly, I just enjoy being able to take him places with me so I'm not leaving him at home when I don't have to.
It's pretty much my favorite thing on the planet right now aside from the 2-n-1 stroller/trailer. I'm trying to convince the hubs to put his cat in the carrier too because that would be hysterical!
For reference, we ordered the small and it's a bit big for Lorenzo who is officially 3 lbs 5 oz right now.
What we've been up to:
June has been busy! We went to baby showers, gender reveals, graduation dinners, birthday celebrations, health and beauty appointments, lunches and dinners with friends, happy hours with family, and traveled to Aspen and leaving tomorrow for Kentucky and Tennessee. It's been a busy month!
What I'm dreading:
I don't believe in dreading anything, but if I had to pick something it would be the month of August. The peak of Houston's heat, humidity, and mosquitoes.
What I'm working on:
My health. My life. My marriage. Growing my faith. And eventually, hope to work on the blog or let it go. I don't think stagnancy is a good thing.
What I'm excited about:
My cousin's little girl Ella! It's exciting to have a new addition to the family and she is an absolute doll. God is so good and we can see His work all around us all the time, but especially in the little angels He brings to this Earth.
I'm also excited for my bestie's wedding this weekend in Lexington, seeing so many friends there to celebrate her & her soon to be hubby, and then seeing my family the following week for Mammaw's 93rd birthday!
What I'm watching/reading:
Watching: The Bachelorette. Becca is beautiful inside and out and I am eagerly hoping she picks a genuine person at the end of this season! She deserves it after what Arie did.
Reading: I haven't read near as much as I would have liked this month, but I am still slowly working my way through the two books below ~ one on the treadmill and one paperback.
What I'm listening to:
I haven't shaken Coldplay's Ghost Stories in the car. I did however tap into a 90's hip hop playlist on Spotify the other day while running and it was an amusing, upbeat run. There's a lot of songs I just don't think about anymore.
I still listen to my usual podcasts: Hope City, Joyce Meyer, Marriage Today, Breakaway (on summer break right now), and Bayou City Fellowship. I am behind on all of these as my morning routine went by the wayside with Lorenzo's arrival but I listen to them when I get ready, whatever time that is each day!
What I'm wearing:
BCBGeneration shorts // BCBGeneration tank in rose and black
Hot trend list:
Old Navy Gingham top and Gingham wedges
I tried on the wedges and they're very comfortable! I just knew I wouldn't wear them much and my thoughtful hubs keeps buying me more shoes when he travels so I can't justify buying more myself. ;)
What I'm doing this weekend:
I'll be getting down and derby'ing in Lexington Kentucky and witnessing my friend get married to the man of her dreams! Then, I'll drive to Tennessee to spend the week with family. =}
What I'm looking forward to next month:
July July July
I am looking forward to Mammaw's 93rd birthday celebration, attending another friend's wedding in Houston, celebrating birthdays, seeing family, and generally having some downtime.
What else is new:
I think I've summed things up for now!
How was your month of June? What were your highlights? Are you excited for July?
Wishing you all a wonderful rest of the week. I'll see you back here on Monday.
XOXO
