What's Up Wednesday: May 2018
My oh my. Goodbye, May. Hello, June. Hello, summer. Hello, married life. I feel like I'm on repeat when I comment each month that I don't know where the time went. What's odd to me is that this month was unlike any others before because this month I was married with a puppy. That meant new schedule, new priorities, new everything just about. I still don't have it all sorted out!
I'm linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share my month of May. If you remember, I skipped over sharing April because it was impossible to blog while on our honeymoon much less to blog at all through the second half of April. I don't know how I managed to share as much as I have throughout May because my time was very limited. But, I am pleased overall to have accomplished what I did . You can read previous What's Up Wednesday posts here.
What we're eating this week:
I'm not gonna lie. I've been off the wagon since the wedding and when I say "off the wagon" I mean I fell off and it ran me over not once, but five times. As I am writing this I am eating ice cream but for the record I am writing in advance while sitting in Knoxville at Mammaw's house where calories, carbs, and food quantities don't count. However, before commencing this trip I warned the hubby that I plan to cook and feed us Whole 30 when I return and for the month of June, including selecting the menu items when we go out to eat with the exception of some flexibility while we're at the Aspen Food & Wine Festival next month.
Since I will be getting home late on Monday night and pending his tentative work travel requirements, I will be trying to use up stuff we have in the freezer to make the following dinners:
- Steaks with riced cauliflower & riced broccoli and roasted bell peppers
- Spiralized zucchini with sauteed shrimp and pasta sauce
- Butternut squash turkey chili
The only thing I'll need to pick up from the store is zucchini!
What I'm reminiscing about:
Past Mays and Junes and summer trips.
June 2015 when I went to Nashville for the first time for a friend's wedding. It was a fun weekend seeing two close friends get married, exploring downtown Nashville, and dashing through the pouring rain and popping into a restaurant for a glass of wine before returning to the hotel. I am spending/just spent Memorial weekend in Nashville again.
June 2016 when I spent the weekend in NYC visiting my fur niece and nephew, sister, and brother in law. I puppy sat my fur niece & nephew part of this past week while in Knoxville and enjoyed the cuddle time with them!
What I'm loving:
My little bunny, Lorenzo. All 2lbs 10oz of him!
What we've been up to:
Puppy training, cooking, cleaning, working out, lunching, dining, traveling, and celebrating friends.
What I'm dreading:
Heat and mosquitoes in Houston. Other than that, nothing!
What I'm working on:
I'm working on getting a schedule back. I want to get back into the pattern of bible study in the mornings and working out but haven't been able to get either done at all or well with Lorenzo's morning routine. All will eventually fall into place as he grows and is potty trained more. The hubby told me I am too hard on myself and that is something I am familiar with hearing. It's all self imposed right now, but I hate having so many things on my to-do list that I can't even get close to accomplishing.
As we continue to grow into a schedule I'll be better able to juggle my household to-do lists and work on the long list of things I want to do for the blog that hasn't even been looked at in months.
What I'm excited about:
I'm excited about eating healthy again in June and regaining my ability to resist/not even crave sugar. I'm excited about the 6-month Christmas countdown on June 24th!! I'm also excited about the Bachelorette being back on!
What I'm watching/reading:
Watching: The Bachelorette and a lot of HGTV, Seinfeld, Friends, and Sex and the City reruns because I keep those on during the day to help drown out noise while I do things and Lorenzo naps.
Reading: Loving Him Well (while on the treadmill), The Story of Redemption Volume 1, and The Marriage You've Always Wanted.
Last month on our honeymoon flights I read the fiction book The Light We Lost and goodness did it tug at my heart in a much too familiar, reminiscent way. I felt like the author wrote about a chapter of my life.
What I'm listening to:
Coldplay: Ghost Stories album on repeat with a mix of Coldplay: Head Full of Dreams. I just haven't been able to get enough of these albums I've loved so much.
What I'm wearing:
Lucky me. I just shared a post on Friday regarding my recent purchases which were all for the honeymoon and wedding events. I have worn all of these multiple times now! Check out my post here for details on these tops, dresses, and additional outfits.
I've shared this Billabong dress a dozen times now and just can't help it. It is my FAVORITE dress this spring and I hope to wear it more over the summer. Linking up with The Blended Blog to share that!
What I'm doing this weekend:
The first weekend of June. Wow.
This weekend I am attending my cousin's baby shower, a graduation dinner, a Tidbit's Front Row event, church, and a gender reveal party!
What I'm looking forward to next month:
I'm looking forward to the trips we have planned for June to Aspen and Lexington for one of my bestie's wedding and driving on from there back to Knoxville for Mammaw's 93rd birthday party. You still have a couple of days to donate to Coreluv for their May Match opportunity! I'm looking forward to visiting with my family and friends and generally finding my routine and flow in married life. I'm also looking forward to riding my bicycle around the neighborhood with my new pet carrier in tow so Lorenzo can safely ride with me!!
What else is new:
I don't think I have anything else to share at the moment!
How was your month of May? Was it busy (fruitful) for you too? What were the highlights? Are you excited for June and the summer months?
I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday and a great rest of the week!
XOXO
