What's Up Wednesday: February 2018

Annnnndddd cut.  That's a wrap, February.

I'm sharing a quick recap of my past month on this What's Up Wednesday monthly link up with Shay and Sheaffer.  I don't know how the shortest month of the year felt so long nor how I got so much accomplished, but I am grateful it was a productive month and that we're moving on to March.  One month closer to Christmas is all I can think about.  ;)  Yes, I said that.  No, I'm not really serious.  I haven't even had time to think about anything but the current day in itself.

So, what have I been up to?

What we're eating this week:

Only time will tell.

I do plan to try a new recipe this week for Mediterranean chicken.  The recipe is actually for salmon, but the FH is a little iffy on his preference for salmon so I figure I won't take a chance and just make it with chicken.

I haven't been able to map out much else for the evening meals this week.

What I'm reminiscing about:

These ladies.  I stumbled upon this photo from February 27th 2015 and it's pretty amazing how different all three of our lives are now three years later.  I'm excited to see their lovely faces next month.

Also these sweethearts from my trip to Miami last March.  Here's my heart all bundled up into four tiny angels.

What I'm loving:

Coffee.  Because 4am wake ups can wear one down.

I'm also loving this moisturizer because it smells great and doesn't irritate my overly sensitive skin.  #itslove

What I've been up to:

February brought a lot of fun commitments including: dinners with friends, two galas, riding in the Mardi Gras parade, happy hours, a couple of sick days, a fun wine night turned surprise shower, a friend's bridal shower, another friend's wedding dress shopping, work outs at 3am and in the evenings, date nights or cooking for the FH, LONG work days, a few trips to the hospital to visit my grandmother who had pneumonia, and I moved.  If you haven't seen me this month, I apologize for the absenteeism.  March will hopefully be more relaxed for our schedule.

What I'm dreading:

Nada except Houston's heat.  We've had too many days in the humid high 70's and 80's recently and I'm over it.  I am not ready for summer.  I hope we don't miss out on a real spring.  And I definitely would like to have had a real winter season so pray it's not totally gone just yet.

What I'm working on:

Survival seems fitting, but it's not all that bad. ;) I just can't quite hone in on a great schedule to get everything done and get enough sleep to sustain my current schedule so everything is in a state of transition at the moment. I'm working on taking that in stride as I've never adjusted well to change and much prefer to have a solid schedule in place.

Aside from that - my book of James Bible study. =)

Everything else in my life is currently on hold, to be resumed and worked on when things calm down.

What I'm excited about:

Orange Theory.  I'm excited to start taking work out classes again and to be taking them with the FH.  We decided to give this a shot and see how we like it for a bit.  The first class was excellent and I am still sore four days later!  #hurtssogood

I'm looking into other fun things to try that might also fit into my new schedule and part of town, too.

What I'm watching/reading:

Watching - Well, I am watching The Bachelor and The Bachelor Winter Games, but one has ended and the other will officially end next week.  ='(  Gosh, it is a time commitment to keep up with but it is so amusing to me.  I've enjoyed keeping up with it while I work out.  I don't have anything else really lined up at the moment!

Reading - I have minimal time at the moment so right now only The Bible and my book of James Bible study.  Once the Bible study is completed I plan to commence reading some books I have lined up and ready to go!

What I'm listening to:

Currently: "No Longer Slaves" by Bethel Music on Pandora.  I recently tuned in to a Hillsong United Pandora station and the worship music it plays is great!

What I'm wearing:

I'm literally wearing the dress and cardigan I shared in last Friday's post and they're both still on sale!  This might just be one of my weekly outfits since I own the dress in four colors and it's ridiculously comfortable.

I am wearing it with tall boots and a pendant necklace.  I feel pretty good about it all, but mainly I feel comfortable.  And I love that.

NOW - I can't emphasize enough how much I adore AGC Boutique and the awesome finds you can discover there.  If you live in the Houston area make sure to stop by there to take a look at what they have!  The inventory changes all the time based on donations, and all items are virtually brand new or even new with tags.  I have found some gorgeous items there in the past!  Plus, your purchase goes back into the charity itself so you're doing a good deed by shopping!  Don't we all love that?

What I'm doing this weekend:

Orange Theory on Friday with the FH.  A 5K walk/run for the Houston Area Women's Center.  Dinners, church, and cleaning out the garage and organizing the Christmas room. ;)

What I'm looking forward to next month:

March!  We have some things scheduled for the weekends but ultimately it will be a quieter month for us than the last two months and I am excited to see my family (to be planned asap) and have some relaxing downtime with the FH.

What else is new:

I don't know that I have more to report but I will use this moment to just say that I love where my life is at, where it is headed, and where it has been.  I try to reflect on the blessings bestowed upon me, my family, and my friends - even in the trials.  The past has a way of making us grateful for the present.  The things happening around us also do that as we acknowledge how much worse we could always have it and just how good we do have it.  I'm in a season of transition and long days, less time for myself and less time for others.  One thing remains constant is my faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and I aim to not lose focus on Him and studying His word while I am in this season.  It will pass, schedules will settle, and a new routine will be formed.  But, one thing remains constant.  Always Him.

And because of that I am considering tapering back my posts for the next couple of months.  I will still write blog posts, but I am releasing myself from any obligation I have previously set for myself to write three per week so that I can write when I have the time and not feel stressed during this season.  That means I very well may still write three per week!  But, if I don't I will not feel like I let myself down.

Ultimately I want my content to come from the heart and be written with sincerity, not feel forced to fulfill the outline of what a blogger "should do" which is an easy trap to fall into.  I want my content to be topics I want to share and not just mindless posts to keep up with a self imposed timeline.

So...that is new.  I thought about it on my drive in to work this morning.  Enjoy the journey.  Enjoy the ride.  Enjoy what you do.  Life is too short otherwise.  And I want to minimize stress during this season that will come to an end in due time and just enjoy it so that I can share my love for Christ and share my love for my family, friends, and FH.  And when the time is right I will dive back in to the long list of topics I have in front of me that I want to write about as well as get my act together to begin sharing my poetry in a hidden platform.

Sidenote* I love this writer RM Drake...good stuff.

Cheers to wrapping up February and keeping this post a little shorter than normal...I think.  How was your February?  Did it pass by quickly for you with the shorter days and holiday weekend?

'Til next time dear friends,

XOXO
