My Favorite Sweater Dress This Season

TGIF.  This past seven days went by fast and furiously with so.many.events. but I have loved every minute of it!

If you've read any of my previous "fashion" posts you likely already know two things about me.  I like to find great deals online and if I discover something that I love I buy it in other colors.  It's safe to say you can probably find at least two versions of any of my favorite items in my closet.

Every year I tend to gravitate towards sweater dresses and most of the ones I've acquired are OK but in the end they're either a little bulky/unflattering or stretchy and form fitting to which I may not always feel confident wearing.  I know you ladies know what I mean.  We have good, great days and some definitely not so great days for wearing form fitted anything!  For this reason they tend to remain hanging sadly in my closet staring at me staring at them with a longing to wear one of my favorite outfits during my favorite seasons with my favorite boots.  The struggle is real.

The tides have turned though and in this case, it is this Express Ruched Sweater Dress.  I placed a large order expecting to send most of it back as I have a love/hate relationship with Express in general.  Most of their stuff fits me exceptionally well = love.  Most of their stuff is typically overpriced in my opinion = hate.  Most of their stuff is of pretty decent quality = love.    Most of their sales are intermittently good so sometimes you have to spend more to save a decent percentage off = hate.  Well, I got lucky with half of my order this time and fell in love with their ruched sweater dress AND it's currently on sale!  There's also multiple colors.  I bought it in black and dark green, but am having non-buyer's remorse for not purchasing the wine color that recently sold out!

This dress has stretch to it, but because of the ruching it is much more flattering and forgiving than the other stretchy sweater dresses I own.  That's the perfect combination right there!  I paired the black dress with an old pair of black suede booties that can fold over as well and tie in the back.  They're sooo cute!  My step mom bought them for me over a decade ago and they never go out of style!  I also wore a Cayetano Legacy statement necklace.  Each item is hand made and their proceeds give back to women in the Philippine's.  You can save 20% using code CLCNYC too!

The lighting wasn't so great for us, but the tree lights were too pretty not to still share our pictures!

I paired the dark green dress with brown suede pumps, Gorjana Lola drop hoop earrings, and a leopard print clutch (not pictured).
